The Mount Vernon Lions Club Screened over 80 Children this month with the Iowa Kidsight Programs. The Iowa KidSight is a joint project of the Lions Clubs of Iowa and the University of Iowa, Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, dedicated to enhancing the early detection and treatment of vision impairments in Iowa’s young children (target population 6 through 48 months of age) through screening and public education. Parents will be notified if any such problems arise with their child's vision. This program is offered at no cost to the parents.
Thank your to Mike Cranston, Justin Dix, and John Brehm for helping out with this project.

The Mt. Vernon Lions Monday approved a donation of $350 to Southeast Linn Community Center Food Pantry, which was in need of supplies. This donation will help relieve hunger in the MVL Community!
The Mt. Vernon Lions Club Monday Night approved at $200 donation to the Mt. Vernon High School Social Justice Trip. Paul Fugate, President of the club said, "our club always loves to help out our students in the high school, I love to see our students travel the country to represent Mt. Vernon and learn outside of the classroom to actually feel and see history.
Mrs. Erickson was very thankful for the donation, and that it will go towards help paying for the trip. The trip aims to help students confront our country's history of race and bias and move forward proactively ensuring that we make gains to prevent the cycle of racism and hate from continuing. If you would like to help with the trip contact Mrs. Erickson and the Mt. Vernon High School. We would like to personally invite the citizens of Mt. Vernon and Lisbon to join the Mount Vernon Lions Club at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 17 for an informational meeting in the library at the First Street Community Center. During this special event, you will be able to join others in your community who share a passion for service, and together learn about the world’s largest service organization—Lions Clubs International—and how we are engaged locally and globally! Join us for food and fellowship. Our Open Letter to the community is below
